Chris Phinney
One of the hardest working people in the underground for many years, Chris Phinney’s resume is astounding with his own work, collaborations, his incredible label, Harsh Reality and his contributions at The Tape Germ.com site. Phinney is one the most essential individuals in this scene, ever.

A relatively early tape on Harsh Reality, this one is Phinney’s solo project of electronic sound, Mental Anguish.

The Memphis based improv group, Viktimized Karcass, featured Chris on synth and, among others, the great Roger Moneymaker on guitar.

Chris has teamed up with Hal McGee on several collaborations including this one from 1996. He has done many collaborations with others including Carl Howard and myself.

Chris also produced a fine series of compilations featuring electronic music ( primarily) of different countries in the late 80s. This set contains music from the U.K. . He also put out tapes from The Netherlands, Germany and several other lands.
Well, first involved as Malice fanzine & we reviewed lots of tapes, then started the label & if memorys correct my first trades were most likely Alain Neffe at Insane Music & Al Margolis at Sound Of Pig, had submitted some material for compilations & struck up trade deals with them at the same time.
