    Micky Saunders

    By Don Campau | 27 October 2011

From Southern California, Micky Saunders exudes some kind of positive energy from the past. A confirmed Beatles “nut”, her joyful sounds never threaten but draw one in to a fresh, poppy place where we all sing along together. A multi instrumentalist like many home tapers, she sings, plays guitar , bass, keyboards and even drums. She is also in cover bands playing the music of The Fab Four and other British legends.

My first tape trade was with Greg Stomberg in 1991. I had heard about Greg from a Goodday Sunshine Beatles magazine that I had subscribed to. I saw Greg’s ad in the magazine. He was looking for people to send him their recordings of Beatles cover songs (Underground Beatles songs). I had many Beatles covers and had just began to record at the time, so I sent him some. Then he sent me back cassettes of some of the other people’s versions of Beatles songs that he had collected. It was great to hear everyone’s cover tunes. We have been trading tapes (and now CD’s) ever since. I have met many excellent musicians who have become great friends through tape trading as well. I always look forward to getting new music from everyone.
It’s great to be able to collaborate with them too.
