    Weed Music

    By Don Campau | 24 September 2011

Weed Music was a German label run by Winfried Pickart from Duren. I was only in touch with him a couple of times and I can’t find any info on the net currently. He operated in the mid-to-late 80s to the early 90s I believe although even that is unclear. If you have any other information let me know and I will add it.

Cassette covers courtesy of Gaby Tiger, a singer who appeared on some Weed releases. She is still actively performing and recording in Germany.

Primarily a German imprint to begin with as indicated by the first sampler (above), this label soon started incorporating international artists to their compilations as you probably cannot see because my scans are too small.

Weed sampler #2 featured many German artists of course such as Klaus Hebing, Lord Litter, Trigger B, Sack and L’Edarps A Moth and others but also had British legends to be, Martin Newell and Man’s Hate.

In addition to German artists Die Manner, Meadow Meal and Gerfried Feistritzer, this tape also featured Hemanos Guzanos from the USA, M. Nomized and Klimperei from France, Andi Xport, Driven To Distraction from the UK and Areknuterneknyterne from Norway. Notice the motto on the sleeve above, “Tapes Are Truth”.

    Rattus Rexx, Whisper

Rattus Rexx was another band on the Weed roster. Their 1990 tape, “Whisper” is above. They also teamed up with Lord Litter for a cassingle in 1988 (below). Gaby Tiger does some vocals on this one. I believe Gaby and Winfried were both members of Rattus Rexx.
