Bob Zark “Lumps Pumped From The Sump” ( 1995, NY)
With a very promising use of early sampling technology, New York artist and political activist Bob Zark ( also called Xark and other monikers on subsequent tapes) rants over the top of the beats effectively.

William Clipman “Nerve Chorus” ( 1985, AZ)
Calling his project and album “Nerve Chorus” Arozna percussionist and vocalist, William Clipman, goes intelligent funk in a downtown NY kind of way. Hear
Billy Pain
Larry Ruhl “ 9 Views” ( 1986?, CT)
Larry used a battery of keyboards to express his inner self and released a few tapes back in the mid to late 90s. His style was low key, non showy, and he had a very nice personal vision for his music. Hear a track from 9 Views
Art Control “Lakov” ( 1988, OH)
Mixing cut ups and goofball instrumentals, this group fell into what I call the “Ohio” mold of home taping nuttiness. Maybe its because Devo came from there or for some other reason, Ohio produced a large amount of unusual wack jobs that used cagey intelligence and psycho humor to express themselves. A Measure Of Our Fragility “ berlin Diaries #6” (1989?, MO and Berlin)
A home taper collab between Thomas Sutter near St. Louis and M. Finnkrieg based in Berlin, this was one of many collabs they did together and blends moody keys with cut ups and found sounds. Hear Thelema
Xposed 4Heads “Let’s Shindig”: ( 1984, ?)
Lo fi punkabilly with frantic energy and faux vengeance. Pretty cool.
Hear Let’s Shindig
Lawrence Harvey “I Saw The Real World” ( 1989, CA)
Santa Cruz home taper Lawrence Harvey had a real nice way with a number of different genres. A fine home taper but I do not know what happened to him. Hear

John Eagan “Industry” (1988, OH)
From Toledo, Eagan demonstrated good skills with the usual arsenal of home taping accoutrements. Instrumental rock in a mildly progressive formula, a bit downtown too. Good. Hear Industry
Phil Klampe & Brain Noring “The Mysterious Radio recordings” (1996?, IA)
Instead of bashing their brains out against each other, these two Iowans are caught listening and responding to each others musical moves nicely. Sure, they can wrench it up but they can also go more minimal and suggestive as on the fragment you can hear here
Nozomi “I’m In The Overseas” ( Best Kept Secret,1995 TX)
Released on Alessandro Crestani’s excellent Italian Best Kept Secret label, this quartet included home taper Cliff Browne Jr. Reconfiguring country rock as a slowcore, shoegaze movement, they had beautiful arrangements and performances with touches of pedal steel for extra points.Great tape.
